Welcome
I’m Signe
—sounds like Sig-nee—
Jungian Psychotherapist. Ritualist. Underworld Guide. Artist of the Inner World.
Helping you transform your deepest struggles into your greatest thanks as you embody a life that could only be YOURS.
I would never ask you to go where I have not been.
My existential crisis started with heartbreak. Betrayal.
We had planned a whole future together, which he threw away on a random lunch time phone call.
“Are you breaking up with me?” Out of the blue after 5 years? “Yes” was his complete sentence. Followed by the period of my hanging up.
It was not only my heart that broke, but my world.
Back then, 2012, I was a vegetable farmer.
I remember secretly wishing strangers would ask me what I did so I could say, beaming, that I grew food for a living. It was my most profound passion, my reason for being, my joy and pride.
My next career move was to start my own farm, on a ready-made plot of land in the town where he would go to grad school. We’d move there together after the first frost.
He was so intertwined with my destiny as a farmer, coiled around everything I trusted and knew without a doubt, that his leaving threw everything into question. All that I had wrested my life on, the absolute foundation of who I knew myself to be, I knew in an instant that none of it was true.
It became frivolous, fleeting, fate flippantly lighting fire to my life.
Fighting to the death for my farming future, right before all the eggs fell from the nest 🫠
Thus began a period of intense spiritual searching on the one hand, and trying to put my life back together on the other.
I studied sacred plant medicine, herbalism and shamanism, took a life coach training and moved across the country.
Then I found Soulcraft by Bill Plotkin, a book that is a bible to many. First of all, he framed existential crisis as an achievement! And secondly, as much as I hated on them on my home page, he had a map.
Reading him, I found hope that a larger story was unfolding. I had just lost the plot.
Even the possibility that what I was experiencing was not a problem, but a portal, was extremely comforting.
I dove in fully and deeply, beginning my 10 year—and counting— participation and apprenticeship with Bill’s Animas Valley Institute.
The depth of transformation that came from wandering in wild places, working dreams, reclaiming shadow, holding ceremony, fasting, drumming, dancing with Animas was almost too much to bear.
I was blessed with the fruit of what he calls the journey of soul initiation–I have an abiding sense of the myth of my life, the reason Earth dreamed me into being, which is a bottomless well of inspired waters, a cryptic poem that takes on new epic meanings at every read.
And I learned to support the initiatory journey in others through years of underworld guide training.
But here’s the thing.
When I went to embody that vision, bring it into the world in service to others, I got slammed with chronic pain flares, intense somatic trauma flashbacks, and a year of debilitating insomnia.
This next level of my initiation was just as deep as the work with Animas and changed my personality from the inside out.
I tried watching the sunrise every morning, among many other things, to reset my circadian rhythm so I could sleep.
Insomnia taught me how to love myself unconditionally because it completely incapacitated me.
I was forced to look at how much of my worth I’d put in the lap of my plans and accomplishments–how much I loved myself for what I did instead of who I was.
Through the flashbacks, I finally made sense to myself because I witnessed the deep truth of the pain of my childhood and grieved.
All of my troubles ripened into my bigger expression, shaped me into the woman who can actually live my myth.
So here I am…
a guide schooled in the intelligence of symptoms and the methods of wandering the mysteries of nature and psyche in search of your soul.
It is a long rough road and also unfathomably ecstatic.
Not for the faint of heart.
But for those unwilling to settle for half-baked truths or being “normal”.
And for those with a hunger for meaning that comes right from the heart of life.
