Full moon to full moon. For 30 days we will explore and deepen village life in conversation with the wild Others. We will practice awakening to and engaging in active, entangled interbeing with the more than human world. And we’ll experiment with expressing this love language in the company of other humans.
Winter Desert Fast with Animas Valley Institute—Guide Apprenticeship
The Animas Quest catalyzes the encounter with soul by temporarily displacing everyday consciousness through five primary means: (1) solitude for three or four days and nights while (2) fasting (i.e., drinking water only), (3) being fully exposed to and enfolded within the forms and forces of nature, (4) enacting a series of ceremonies, and (5) employing a set of practices (soulcraft) that support you in crossing into the mysteries of nature and psyche.
Sweet Darkness: The Initiatory Gifts of the Shadow, Projections, Subpersonalities, and the Sacred Wound with Animas Valley Institute—Guide Apprenticeship
At Animas, when we speak of the Shadow, we mean the hidden realm of our psyches, with both its “golden” and “sinister” aspects. The Shadow is NOT what we know about ourselves and don’t like or know that others find uncomfortable but, rather, what is true about us but know nothing about and would sincerely deny if accused of it or praised for it. During Sweet Darkness, we explore those sticky, difficult, and immensely rewarding dynamics that come up so often in life, like overpowering emotional charges triggered by other people and by our encounters in the other-than-human world.
